What This Blog Is All About!

Hello friends and welcome to the Blacktina chronicles.  The purpose of the Blacktina Chronicles is to share my experiences as a Black Hispanic woman in Corporate America.  Some of you who work in Corporate America understand the Oscar winning performances we conduct on a daily basis, from altering our appearance, speech and interests.  These performances are exhausting to say the least, but somehow they are also enlightening in terms of how we grow both in spirituality and integrity. To phrase it simply how many Lord help me get through this have you muttered and in the same breath said to yourself, “I will not stoop to anybody’s level.”  I hope you enjoy reading the Blacktina Chronicles and look forwarding to hearing from some of you and your daily chronicle of being a Black and/or Latina woman in good ole Corporate America.

  1. Have you heard about the Maafa 21 documentary that has just been released? It goes into great detail about the who, what and how racist attitudes are being perpetuated today and what the ultimate goal of it is. the shocking thing is that it has been going on for years under the guise of “helping” the black community. You can see a preview at maafa21.com

    • Thanks for the reference, I’ll check it out.

  2. Please help us…this is happening to Black and Latina women…

    Dear ____________,

On March 3rd, 2009 six year old Aniysah was taken from her mother’s arms and thrown into a legal shuffle of unaccountability, instability and discrimination. There were no records verifying that she would be taken to a safe living environment or that she was enrolled in school. Questions about her health and well-being went unanswered. That was 150 days ago. To date, Aniysah remains lost in the legal system. A system where black and brown children go missing everyday. A system where black mothers like Aniysah’s are often left to fend for themselves in a brutal, dogged battle just to make sure their children are safe.

It’s time to hold the legal system accountable. Document the Silence asks that you join them in the “Where’s Aniysah?” campaign by posting information about this case on your blogs, online social networks and throughout your community. You can find out more about this campaign to stand against injustices against our children in the legal system by visiting the Document the Silence website (http://documentthesilence.wordpress.com). There you will also find a video, additional facts and information about Anyisah’s case, and suggestions for what you can do to demand that justice is served on August 24. We especially encourage you to leave comments on the site expressing your support for Aniysah and any details about what you plan to do to help.

Thank you in advance for your part in breaking the silence surrounding injustices against women and children of color.

    in solidarity,
